Fasolada is one of the most famous traditional greek dishes and it is made by simmering beans with tomatoes and other vegetables such as carrots, onion, parsley, celery, and bay leaf. Sometimes, instead of white beans, they put “black” beans.
Fasolada be established as the “national” greek food in Metaxas’ period. For a good amount of people in Metaxas’ period, fasolada was the main food for them because they didn’t have the money to buy meat. Of course, Fasolada as a food, preexisted in ancient times, and it was food and sacrifice for God Apollon by some people.
Fasolada is also usual dish in many Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain, and Cyprus but also in Turkey, Israel, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.
